Gingerbread Descriptive Writing

So, I happen to love holiday projects of all sorts and sizes, and even though my list of writing projects is already too long, I couldn't help but create another one! I really wanted to have the kids write about a gingerbread this year, so I thought of a cute creative writing project last week. We did them yesterday and they turned out cute :)

Here is the fill in the blank story I put on the SmartBoard.

Hi! My name is ___________ the gingerbread boy/girl. I saved myself from being eaten yesterday! I jumped off of the cookie sheet and ran over the _________________, under the ________________, through the _______________, around the __________________, and hid in a ______________________! I feel so ______________ and ________________ to be alive!

I really pushed them to write descriptively by using at least ONE adjective before each noun when filling in the blank. (ex: I ran over the gooey dough, under the baker's hand, ... )

I was super impressed by their creativity and nouns they chose!

Vintage Ornaments

I made these adorable vintage ornaments this week! Older grades could easily make these with a few alterations. Make the strips bigger and longer so they are easier to weave and glue. The strips I used were about eight inches long and a quarter inch wide. They were a bit time consuming....I made about 3 during one Christmas movie.

If you'd like to try making these, click here for the tutorial! I found cute vintage tags that I glued in the middle. I also used scrapbook paper instead of book pages. I also used gold Scribbles glitter glue to decorate each point.

Right now our fridge is adorned with these cuties :)

Time off from school = time to create! Woot!

Oreo Turkeys!

I'm so excited. After tomorrow, I will have 9 GLORIOUS days off. YAY!

Until then, I will enjoy making these adorable Oreo turkeys tomorrow morning! Hoping they turn out looking at least similar to the picture :)

Check with parents/students for any food allergies before making!
